In many cultures this is still the case - it’s certainly nothing to hide or be ashamed of! Finding yourself takes time and a lot of learning experiences. I am far happier with the person I am now than when I was in my 20’s, and most of my heroes are from an older generation. I’d be proud to even come close to emulating them. Don’t try to pretend to be something less than you are, be honest, embrace your true self and do it beautifully.
